Alright Gautmanation,
As some of you may know I am a DIE HARD Steelers fan, I’ve been one since before I even knew it, I’m 3rd generation, both of my parents and all four of my grand-parents show their love for the Black-n-Gold (some from beyond the grave.) So with the pre-season underway and the Regular season right around the corner I thought I would introduce a new concept to the Gautamablog.
Anyone who’s ever watched a game with me knows how passionate my fan-dom is and has also seen how ridiculously entertaining my game day banter can be. Taking this into account I’ve decided to make it available for all of you on real time right here on the internet. I’ll be covering the pre-season on my personal Facebook page and then starting Game One of the regular season (Sept 12th against the Atlanta Falcons) I’ll be giving you my special brand of play-by-play commentary on my twitter page so if you don’t already follow me @ www.twitter.com/ghani_gautama.
DISCLAIMER: This and all future posts in this category make no claims of objectivity, they are the impassioned rants of a rabid Steelers fan and will reflect a severe pro-Steelers anti-everyone else bias. I will be using information from www.steelers.com , www.espn.com , www.nfl.com as well as local TV broadcasts and will make every attempt to be timely and accurate about matters concerning statistics, my objectivity however ends there. Regardless of anyone’s personal loyalties it is my sincere hope that you find my mutterings both informative and amusing. Thank You
In addition to the real-time chatter I will also be posting the transcripts of each week’s contest here on the blog so that everyone can enjoy them no matter what social network they are on…
Here’s last nights in chronological order via Facebook:
Ian Currie The NFL’s most decorated franchise, the Pittsburgh Steelers, are about to start their pre-season campaign against the lowly Detroit Lions, life just got hectic stay tuned to www.ghanigautama.comfor a fan’s-eye-view of this season’s action
Ian Currie Black n Yellow sack a fellow, Matthew Stafford, Athens ain’t nothing like the the Steel City
Ian Currie Savor the flavor Matt Stafford, and while I like Calvin Johnson the “Rambling Wreck” has never produced a football player worthy of NFL greatness… They are all too busy designing bridges that collapse
Ian Currie Issac Redman, 8 yards right through that soft ass D-Line
Ian Currie we needed that TD Byron, oh well what do you expect from a former member of the “thundering turd”… no offense Huntington WV I still love you
Ian Currie Dennis Dixon 51 yarder plus 8 on the ground what other team has depth like that, he’s the #3 QB dry your tears on your game checks Lions
Ian Currie TOUCHDOWN Dennis Dixon, in case you forgot this dude was a potential Heisman Trophy winner befor his knee exploded, he was also drafted into 2 professional sports leagues, the Braves drafted him too
Ian Currie OK TD called back, Dennis Dixon is still an elite athlete, Issac Redman came through in the short yardage though… Give it up for undrafted rookies, I love the pre-season… word from camp is Redman is in the running to be THE short yardage back, haven’t had that since The Bus retired
Ian Currie I’m using two devices to better serve y’all with my play-by-play commentary, one of them is updating very slowly, new trash-talk coming soon
…At this point the game was delayed for over an hour due to lightning and since the real-time appeal was wearing off and it was still PRE-season I decided to call it a night but here’s a few highlights of the rest of the game which resulted in a 23 to 7 victory for the Steelers thanks to a stellar showing by former Oregon Duck, Dennis Dixon who put up 128 yards through the air along with another 31 on the ground and capped off his evening with a 68 yard TD to rookie 6th rounder Antonio Brown. Evening’s other stand out was 2009 un-drafted free agent Issac Redman (or Issac “Redzone” as he has been affectionately named at Steelers’ camp for his nose for the endzone) who put up 60 yards on 15 carries with one TD…
All in all a good start to things, however I’m not getting too exited yet the bulk of the scoring was against 2nd and 3rd stringers who also happen to play for the LIONS so we’ll have to see but in all fairness the top preformers (D. Dixion, A. Brown, and I. Redman) are all third stringers too so credit must be given for handling business like professionals…
…Next week we face the Giants of New York in their newly built stadium, will we see any action out of embattled QB Ben Roethlisberger, will Byron Leftwich get it together and defend his spot as week one starter or will Dennis Dixon make steps towards usurping the journeyman backup, will #1 and #2 RB’s Rashard Mendenhall and Mewelde Moore overcome their fumble-itis we’ll have to see…
…that–ladies and gentleman–is why they play the games…
Ghani Gautmama signing off, take care of yourselves and each other
